Athlete Benjamin Kiplagat, born in Kenya, but who represented Uganda internationally, was found dead in his home country, with police investigating the case on suspicion of murder. “An investigation has been opened and the police are looking for clues”, said law enforcement officials in Eldoret, in the Rift Valley, a well-known place for high-competition athletics training.

Kiplagat, 34, was found in a car on Saturday night, near Eldoret, with police revealing that the body had injuries to the chest and neck, suggesting that the athlete had been stabbed.

Benjamim Kiplagat represented Uganda in 3000 meter hurdles events, having participated in the Beijing2008, London2012 and Rio2016 Olympic Games and several world championships.
