Traffic accidents have become one of the main causes of death on the Island, due to the lack of fuel forcing many to depend on the mass transportation service.
These vehicles are cargo trucks slightly modified to be able to transport dozens of people at the same time to their jobs; however, when one of these is involved in an accident, the consequences are usually devastating.
One of these accidents occurred early Friday morning, when a Kamaz truck overturned with several people on board in the mountainous area of Explanada de Duaba, belonging to the popular council of Los Calderos, in the Imías municipality, Guantánamo.
