Pro-Palestine Protesters Gather at Columbus Monument in Manhattan to Call for End to Israel’s Attacks

A group of pro-Palestine protesters gathered this afternoon at the Columbus monument, on a corner of Central Park, in Manhattan.

Around 2:00 in the afternoon, supporters who are calling for an end to Israel’s attacks and for the country’s government to stop supporting them gathered at this point carrying Palestinian flags and signs with messages of support.

“Stop the genocide, cease fire,” read some of the banners.

In recent days, several marches of this type have been held in Manhattan, the last one occurred outside the World Trade Center on the afternoon of December 30.

On this occasion almost a hundred people gathered at the site.

Until 2:45 in the afternoon, no major incidents were reported.

The protest takes place a few blocks from where the security fence begins for the New Year’s celebrations in Times Square.

On Friday, the New York Police assured that there are no credible threats to the event that brings together thousands of people and they assured that they were ready for any type of demonstration.
