In a statement to Sky News, the company said the flooding was under control, allowing train services to resume. Eurostar does warn of delays because speed restrictions will still be in force.
Eurostar says it regrets Saturday’s canceled trains and points out affected customers the option to rebook or request a refund.
In a press release, Eurostar indicated that a total of 41 trains were canceled, impacting around 30,000 passengers. They got stuck in Brussels, London, Paris or Amsterdam.
The flooding occurs in a tunnel near Ebbsfleet International railway station in Kent. That station is located approximately 40 kilometers from the center of London. Eurostar is therefore canceling all trains between London and Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam today. Southeastern Railway – which uses the same line.
There has been chaos at Brussels South station since Saturday morning; hundreds of travelers are stranded there. People locally are looking for other ways to continue their journey. The end of year period is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for Eurostar. Many travelers have been affected by the cancellations.

Code yellow
The United Kingdom has been hit by severe weather for several days. In the south of England and Wales, code yellow applies for rain and wind, in the north of England and Scotland, code yellow applies for rain and snow. The British Weather Service warns of flooding and traffic disruptions.
The severe weather is caused by storm Gerrit, which has been gripping Great Britain since Wednesday. The north of England and Scotland in particular had a hard time. About 100 houses were damaged in Manchester. Wind speeds of up to 136 kilometers per hour were measured in Scotland.
