The Municipal Library Network of the Cádiz City Council closes the year 2023 with figures that confirm its proper functioning and citizen participation in each of the services provided by the four libraries of the Network: the José Celestino Mutis Library, the Adolfo Suárez Library, the Santa María Library and the Viña Library.
In this way, in 2023 a total of 135.653 personas who have visited the municipal offices, being the Adolfo Suárez Library, located in the extramural area, the one that has received the most visitors.
This year, 662 people have obtained the new network user cardamong them the schoolchildren enrolled in the ‘New Readers’ program that every October welcomes boys and girls who go to school for the first time.
Regarding the loan service, during this year there have been 24,253 servicesboth books and audiovisuals in physical format, in virtual format and in interlibrary loans.
The number of loans is in line with the number of new bibliographic records in the libraries, and amounts to 10,061 new titles acquired or donated during this year.
Regarding activities to promote reading, during the year 2023, more than 200 activities in the Network of Municipal Libraries of Cádiz, highlighting the reading clubs, book presentations, exhibitions, story-telling, puppets, as well as the activities agreed upon with the Cádiz CF Foundation and those that have been developed in the Library’s recently inaugurated playroom. Adolfo Suárez, thanks to the Edusi and Next Generation funds.
In this way, the Network of Municipal Libraries of Cádiz, with a total of 26,041 total registered at the end of this yearare consolidated as living centers close to the community they serve, as doors to information and a meeting point for residents of the neighborhoods in which they are located, highlighting this year the campaign developed with neighborhood associations and entities solidarity to collect food with the ‘El Libro Solidario’ program.
