Today, Sunday, the activities of the Liwa International Festival conclude with a race to climb “Mereb Hill” for cars in 3 categories: the “open category,” the “agency” category, and the “Hilux” category.
Each competitor will be given the opportunity to make two attempts to climb and reach the best time.
The organizing committee at Liwa Sports Club announced the completion of preparations for the closing events, and the reception of festival fans on the closing day, in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
The hill climb competitions began yesterday in three categories: electric cars, the “6-cylinder turbo” category, and the “8-cylinder gas-cylinder” category.
Mohammed Rashid Al-Jabri was able to achieve first place in the “8 Gas Cylinders” category, achieving 5.830 seconds, and Mishal Mohammed Al-Khalidi from Saudi Arabia came second with 5.842 seconds, and third was Khaled Abdullah Rashid with 5.997 seconds.
Abdullah Mohammed Al-Dahmani won first place in the “6-cylinder turbo” category, with a time of 6.565 seconds, and Mohammed Amin Ismail came second with 6.649 seconds, and third was Khalid Abdullah Rashid with 7.211 seconds, while the first experience of electric car competitions achieved great success.
The closing day will witness the festival’s celebrations for the New Year 2024, and the countdown will begin on the Mareb Dunes, with fireworks and distinctive “drone” shows.
