Two Children Arrested for Throwing Glass Bottles from 32nd Floor of New York Hotel

Two children were arrested after causing panic in New York by throwing glass alcohol bottles from the top of their hotel room early Friday evening.

It was shortly before 5 p.m. that the two young people, aged 12 and 11, threw the bottles from the top of the 32nd floor of the InterContinental located in Times Square. The impact was so strong that many passers-by believed it was gunshots, according to the New York Post.

“I can understand why people thought it was gunshots. When something falls from 32 floors and hits the ground, it makes a big noise,” a police officer told the New York media.

A 24-year-old woman was injured during the event. The latter was taken to hospital to treat a cut to the head.

The street was closed for more than an hour so that the police could clarify the situation.

While the 11-year-old was not charged due to his age, the 12-year-old faces charges of reckless endangerment as a minor. Their parents did not want to comment on the situation when the daily tried to reach them at their hotel room.
