Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md Beating Incident: TNI Soldiers Under Investigation

Volunteer Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md in Boyolali, Central Java, became a victim beating by a number TNI soldiers. Head of the TNI National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Nugraha Gumilar, said that the suspects in the attack were being investigated.

“Yes, that’s right. This person is currently in the process of being investigated by Denpom Surakarta,” said Brigadier General Nugraha when contacted by journalists, Saturday (30/12/2023).

Nugraha has not detailed the chronology and causes of the beating. Currently, his party is still carrying out investigations regarding the existing case.

“The chronology of the incident is still under investigation,” said Nugraha.

It is known that the incident involving the beating of Ganjar-Mahfud volunteers went viral on social media. In the video circulating, it is narrated that the volunteer had just finished attending an event in Boyolali. They were then intercepted by TNI officers allegedly from Battalion 408.

In the video, a number of people can be seen initially on the side of the road. Not long afterward, the perpetrators immediately approached the passing motorbike and attacked them.

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto is aware of this incident. He expressed his condolences for the events that occurred.

“Expressing a deep sense of condolences considering that acts of violence began to occur from the Repdem (volunteers for the struggle for democracy) in Jogja, these brothers became victims of various forms of irresponsible groups,” said Hasto at the Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Saturday (30/ 12).

Hasto asked for the case to be thoroughly investigated. He asked the TNI officers suspected of being involved in the beating to be processed.

“We ask all law enforcement officers not to be selective and to investigate thoroughly. Because this election must be peaceful, this election must run safely,” he said.
