The best slopes of the year have been named – and it is familiar names who take home the award.
Amanda Ilestedt and Victor Nilsson Lindelöf are awarded the awards.
“Of course I feel joy and pride at winning another year,” says Nilsson Lindelöf to the Swedish Football Association.
The Swedish team captain Victor Nilsson Lindelöf takes home the award for the fifth time in a row and the sixth time overall.
During the season, the 29-year-old centre-back has, among other things, been involved when club team Manchester United took home the English league cup and secured promotion to the Champions League.
The national team year 2023 has been tough for the men’s national team and the team misses the European Championships in 2024.
“We haven’t performed at the level we want, but now we have to get together and make a new effort before the upcoming Nations League games and World Cup qualifiers,” says Nilsson Lindelöf to the Swedish Football Association.
On the women’s side, the award was given to Amanda Ilestedt, and she is honored for the second year in a row.
Ilestedt, who plays everyday for Arsenal, was one of the key players when Sweden won World Cup bronze last summer. In addition to important defensive efforts, the 30-year-old accounted for four goals during the championship and won the internal shooting league in Sweden.
“It was a crazy summer, both that I myself had to score so many goals and take a place in the shooting league in a WC, but also that we succeeded so well as a team. It was great fun that everything worked, a dream that clearly came true,” says Ilestedt to the Swedish Football Association.
