Israeli airstrikes on refugee camps in the middle of the Gaza Strip have left 100 dead and 158 injured in the past 24 hours, a Gaza health official told various media. The dead included a journalist from Al Quds TV channel Jabr Abu Hadros and six of his relatives, the channel, which has ties to the Islamic Jihad militant group, said.
The Israeli army has been launching an offensive for several days towards the Bureij, Nuseirat and Maghazi refugee camps, located just south of the Wadi Gaza river that divides the strip into north and south. A resident of Bureij tells the AP news agency that he heard gunfire last night, followed by heavy air raids this morning.
“They strike everywhere,” Saeed Moustafa, a resident of Nuseirat, told AP. ‘Families are being killed in their homes and on the streets. They are being killed everywhere.” Mustafa Abu Wawee, another Nuseirat resident, confirmed this. “The occupiers are doing everything they can to force people to leave,” he says as he searches for survivors among the rubble. “They want to break our spirit and will, but they will fail. We’re not going anywhere.’
