Diomande, Morita and Geny Catamo play with Portimonese in their last game before heading to CAN and the Asian Cup; in selections with certain renewals
Ousmane Diomande, Hidemasa Morita and Geny Catamo play their last game for Sporting this Saturday in Portimão before heading to the national teams — the center to participate in the African Cup of Nations (January 13 to February 11) for the Ivory Coast; the Japanese in the Asian Cup (January 12th to February 10th); the Mozambican winger also on his way to CAN. But they are going with their future assured in Alvalade, because the first two have their renovations lined up and the last one already renewed a week ago.
Diomande, 20 years old, has a contract with the green and whites until 2027. Hired recently from Midtjylland, who had loaned him to the League 2 club, Mafra, the defender is at one of the lowest levels of salaries practiced in Alvalade: he earns around 300 thousand euros per year at a time when his status in the squad is already much higher. Hence the salary increase to a more appropriate level. Regarding the years of connection, the increase has been aimed at one more year, but it will not be surprising if the lions add two more seasons, until June 2029. The termination clause is already 80 million euros, equal to the of Pedro Gonçalves and Morten Hjulmand, the second highest in the squad — only Viktor Gyokeres has a higher clause, of 100 million euros.
Morita, 28 years old, in addition to a salary improvement — is at an intermediate level on the green and white squad’s salary list, in the order of 400/500 thousand euros net per year, and should move to a higher level, in the order of 700 /800 thousand euros per season —, the duration of the contract will also be increased, by two years, to 2028. The termination clause for the number 5 of the green and whites is set at 45 million euros, a value that in Alvalade served as reference for midfielders but which has been gradually updated, so Morita should also see this clause rise to 60 million.
Geny Catamo renewed this Friday for eight days. The 22-year-old Mozambican winger and the Sporting administration agreed to extend the contract for four and a half years, which however is five and a half years, since due to legal bureaucratic issues the fifth season will start at the end of 2027/2028. In other words, Geny Catamo will be a lion until June 2029.
