Saudi Al-Nasr and Portugal national team striker Cristiano Ronaldo became the best football player in the world in terms of goals scored in 2023. The 38-year-old player has 53 goals in 58 matches for club and national team. Note that the Portuguese will have to play one more match this year.

PSG and France national team striker Kylian Mbappe is in second place in the list of top scorers at the end of the year, scoring 52 goals in 53 matches. Englishman Harry Kane was third. The Bayern forward also has 52 goals, but has played more matches (57). Manchester City’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland is fourth with 50 goals in 60 games.
Ronaldo’s closest pursuers will not play this year. The French and German championships are on a winter break, and Norwegian Haaland is still recovering from injury and will not take part in City’s next match with Sheffield, which will take place on December 30.
