Years before being the comical and much-loved Drax from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, Dave Bautista faced DC Comics’ most famous superhero. Many fans want Dave to return to the DCEU as Bane.
Before achieving a recognized place as superheroes or villains, either within the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the DC Extended Universe, some actors and actresses tried their luck playing other characters from comic book franchises. Chris Evans became the Human Torch in 2005’s Fantastic Four a couple of years before starring in Captain America: The First Avenger. Something similar happened with Ryan Reynolds being Green Lantern in the DCEU, and then changing to the UCM as Deadpool.
Another actor who joins the list is Dave Bautista. Currently, the former professional wrestler is part of the MCU as Drax the Destroyer, who loses his wife Ovette and his daughter Kamaria, being killed by Thanos. Bautista first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy alongside Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Bradley Cooper, reprising his role in other Marvel installments. Drax is one of the most beloved characters for his wit and his witticisms, making the audience laugh with some of his phrases.
Years before joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista faced another great superhero who does not belong to the UCM but to DC Comics. This was one of his first characters after finishing his career in the sport of wrestling and saying goodbye to WWE, and perhaps because of his impressive physique and strength, he caught the attention of the producers of the series that narrated the life of a young Superman played by Tom Welling.

In 2006, Dave Bautista debuted on the small screen in Smallville, the iconic series that presented the adventures of Clark Kent in his adolescence and youth. In the series, Bautista played Aldar, a criminal who was escaping from the Phantom Zone, and since he was not a ghost, the character kept his physical body. As a huge humanoid alien, Aldar had a very special diet, feeding on bone marrow.
In the episode, Aldar faced Clark in a tough battle that forced the Kryptonian to work hard to eventually defeat him. Among Aldar’s powers were increased speed, superhuman strength, and almost Superman-level stamina. “My job on Smallville was one of those that came from being a WWE star. At that time I had absolutely no desire to be an actor,” Bautista said of how he began his acting career.

Many fans have called for Bautista to return to the DCEU, although not to fight Superman, but to take on Batman as Bane. The character was previously played by Tom Hardy in the Christopher Nolan-directed film, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. Would you like Bautista to give life to this powerful villain who doesn’t feel physical pain?
