Dammam: The Ministry of Environment has stepped up action against cutting trees and illegally selling wood products in Saudi Arabia. The warning was repeated because the law violations are likely to rise as the cold weather in the country. Violations will be fined from five thousand to sixteen thousand riyals.
The warning was reiterated by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Competing Certification under the Saudi Ministry of Environment and Agriculture. Cutting trees and selling them as by-products to the detriment of the country’s biodiversity and environment is a punishable offence.
Carrying, storing and selling local firewood and charcoal will be covered by the law. Violations of such appointments will be fined from five thousand to sixteen thousand Rials. Officials of the authority also stated that constant surveillance has been set up in this area.
