It’s a terrible story that affected a couple. The latter won 205 million in EuroMillions and lost everything in the worst way!
Every week, many people try their luck at the Loto, Eurodreams or even EuroMillions. And for good reason, the winnings at stake can clearly change a life. On the other hand, some narrowly escape victory.
The hammer blow
A couple missed out on an astronomical sum in EuroMillions. Rachel Kennedy, 19, and Liam McCrohan, 21, got into the habit of playing the game. One day, to their great surprise, they discovered they had the right numbers.
In fact, they played the same grids for five weeks. One day, they learned that their numbers were down. Overjoyed, the two lovebirds thought their lives were going to change. But the worst ended up happening.
Rachel and Liam missed out on 205 million euros because their ticket was not validated. In fact, he did not have enough credit to pay the latter and the FDJ was not able to take their scale into account.
However, the young woman received a notification from the application which had indicated “winning match” at EuroMillions. She thought then that she had won the jackpot. In any case, that’s what she told The Sun.
Rachel revealed: “I went on the app and it said ‘Winning Match’. And I thought, ‘Oh my God, I won.’ So I called my boyfriend Liam and my mother into the room.”
An unvalidated EuroMillions ticket
She then clarified: “And they couldn’t believe it either. So, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I have to call them.’ I called the number in thinking I had won £182 million« .
On the other hand, the young woman received a blow when she heard the news. When she thought she had won the EuroMillions, she finally discovered that her ticket had not been validated because of her credit.
“They told me, ‘Yeah, you have the right numbers. But you did not have the funds in your account to pay for the ticket. So it didn’t come to fruition. I was on top of the world when I thought I had won.”
Rachel then explained: “But when I found out that wasn’t the case, Liam was actually more upset than me.” And for good reason, the young man had already plans for the future with his EuroMillions win.
Very disappointed, Liam revealed: “I was heartbroken when we heard the man on the phone say we hadn’t bought the ticket. I was already imagining the house of our dreams and the car of our dreams.”
“It really felt like we had won”
The man who thought he won EuroMillions said: “I think I was getting a little carried away to be fair. On the app, it really looked like we had won.”
Furthermore, he pointed out: “Because it appears in orange and it said EuroMillions winning match. When I looked and it was the usual numbers, it really looked like she had won. And I got a little carried away.”
Rachel is still hoping to win a huge amount of money at EuroMillions. She said: “We’ve been playing these exact numbers for about five weeks straight now. (…)”.
And to affirm: “We are absolutely not going to continue to use these figures from now on, I have already modified them. I’ve never won anything before, we just have the worst luck when it comes to stuff like that.”
