Boyko Borisov Comments on Schengen, Eurozone, and Military Action in Stara Zagora

“I have always said that the rule works in Brussels – until everything is agreed, nothing is agreed. Here a little youth and management experience played a bad joke. A huge work – which both the government, the parliament, and Kiril Petkov and I have done in the committees, is currently subject to a dose of doubt. Negative comments are also allowed to appear.”

In this way, GERB leader Boyko Borisov commented on the subject of Schengen in front of journalists in Stara Zagora.

“If we don’t get the document by noon today – figuratively speaking, all the statements that were made are not good for diplomacy,” he pointed out. “If it doesn’t happen by today, we will go to KOREPER (Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States of the European Union) in January. January is already quite close to the elections in Austria,” he also pointed out.

According to him, there was no need to rush the comments, but the journalists were impatient and reflected the Romanians.

“That is why we are making every effort. Behind the scenes, an awful lot of consultations are taking place in Europe – along the lines of the EPP, along the lines of the liberals. Commitments are also being made on the topic of migration – something for which three years ago we were an example. If you want to be in Schengen, you have to protect your borders – we have to. And since you cannot guard it, you will have liabilities for it. I see that in recent months, a huge effort is being made to secure the borders. Unfortunately, during the time of Boyko Rashkov and all the others, the border was dismantled. A huge effort was made to spit on the Bulgarian state,” said the former prime minister.

He pointed out that the Eurozone is waiting, and several more laws will be passed after the holidays.

Borisov also commented on what Tagarev said about sending military personnel to the Red Sea to fight piracy.

“As far as I know, sending military personnel without a decision of the parliament cannot happen. The Bulgarian people do not want to participate in military actions and we will not allow Bulgaria to participate in military actions. It is one thing to help the attacked country, as 50 countries are doing, and those we seek to be our friends, it is another thing to send military units. This cannot happen and I wonder to Tagarev how he can speak without even having spoken to the majority in the parliament. Bulgarians should know that this will not happen,” said the GERB leader.

Boyko Borisov visited Stara Zagora and met with the mayors of the municipalities in the district to comment on what will be invested in the over 160 million BGN allocated.
