Singer Gangnam (Yasuo Namekawa, 36) revealed his secret to successfully losing 13kg in 3 months.

On the 28th, Kangnam posted a video on her YouTube channel with the title, ‘Kang Nami’s diet VLOG, who lost 87kg → 74kg in 3 months.’

Gangnam said, “I am ending my 3-month diet. The diet was successful. I lost 13kg in 3 months. I was 87kg, but now I am 74kg. I lost a lot.”

He said, “Recently, I’ve received a lot of comments saying, ‘I lost weight,'” but pledged, “I need to lose even more than I do now. In fact, this is just the beginning. I will take care of my jaw line and get it back to the way it was 10 years ago.”

Gangnam, who had a ‘cheat day’ to celebrate his successful diet, ate chicken and pizza and looked happy as he consumed a lot of carbohydrates for the first time in a long time. Regarding the improvement after dieting, he said, “First of all, my family is harmonious. There are no more people saying, ‘Exercise’ or ‘lose weight.’ It’s good that there is no nagging. When he eats something, he sighs and now calls me ‘my son.'” Sang-hwa said. “They don’t even check what they’re eating and they’re very friendly,” he said.

Gangnam revealed that he lost weight through the ‘Keto diet’. He said, “I completely cut out carbohydrates and drank a lot of oil. In the first week, I didn’t lose weight well and it was just hard. I held on and entered the second week, and my body suddenly became lighter. And my fatty liver disappeared for the first time since I started the Keto diet. “I quit carbohydrates and exercised lightly. I really hate exercise. “I don’t know how difficult and painful it was,” he said.

Next, Gangnam’s appearance when he actually went on a diet was revealed. Gangnam, who managed his diet with Keto kimbap, even exercised at the same time. Kangnam also recalled that she did not neglect exercise by running with her wife Lee Sang-hwa even when she went on a trip to Hawaii.

Previously, Gangnam attracted attention by saying that he lost 15kg in August 2019 and said, “I fell in love with the fun of building abs.”

In most cases, when you eat unprocessed natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, and nuts, you consume energy and dietary fiber at the same time. Dietary fiber absorbed into the body in this way not only has the effect of slowing down the absorption of sugar in the intestines, but also helps control blood sugar levels and hunger by regulating intestinal function and the balance of intestinal bacteria.

However, many people remove dietary fiber from foods such as refined grains such as white rice and flour, cereals containing sugar, cookies, and juice, and then consume them. To avoid the negative effects of eating low-fiber and fixed-carbohydrate diets, low-carbohydrate diets and keto diets have been designed, and some of them have proven their effectiveness and scientific basis.

In fact, a 2021 study found that restricting carbohydrates induces ketosis, a biological process that uses energy from fat in an empty stomach or during prolonged exercise. Additionally, studies have shown that low-carbohydrate diets help with weight loss, blood pressure, and inflammation problems.

The ketogenic diet that Gangnam is following is characterized by low carbohydrates and high fat. The key to this diet is carbohydrates, not fat. According to the American men’s health magazine ‘Men’s Health.com’, the goal of the keto diet is to induce ketosis. Ketosis refers to a state in which the body is forced to burn stored fat. To achieve this, extreme carbohydrate restriction of approximately 5 to 10% of daily calories is required. This means that to be effective, the daily carbohydrate intake must be lowered to 20-50g depending on the person. When consuming carbohydrates, it is best to select the appropriate type of carbohydrates to ensure you feel full during the diet.

Typically, a keto diet includes protein-rich foods such as fish, beef, poultry, and eggs, as well as high-fat dairy products such as butter, cheese, and cottage cheese. The American health media ‘food-and-nutrition’ also recommended nine types of vegetables. Among these, vegetables that are easily available in Korea include cabbage, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, spinach, and kale.

It is better to choose fruits that are low in carbohydrates. The fruits recommended by nutritionists when doing the Keto diet are avocado, strawberry, lemon, watermelon, raspberry (or blackberry), and apple.

This diet was originally developed as a patient diet to treat pediatric epilepsy patients, but gained attention as its weight loss and blood sugar reduction effects were highlighted. However, there is also criticism that if continued for a long period of time, it may cause nutritional imbalance and cause a severe yo-yo effect after the diet ends.
