TOLEDO, 28 (EUROPA PRESS)
The president of the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha, Ángel Tomás Godoy, celebrated this Thursday the decision of the Council of Ministers to discard the nuclear cemetery in Villar de Cañas (Cuenca), avoiding “a second mortgage” for the region along with the Tajo-Segura transfer, and has assured that this has been a fight won by the Castilian-La Mancha society with the constant support of the Government of the regional president, Emiliano García-Page, to prevent its installation.
At a press conference at the regional headquarters of the PSOE, Godoy thanked the Government of Spain for this decision and also the regional government, because, with President Emiliano García-Page at the helm, “it has been fighting so that it is not located in our region”, as reported by the socialists in a press release.
“And we want to thank the civil society of Castilla-La Mancha, which has been together with the Socialist Party fighting so that we do not have this second mortgage in Castilla-La Mancha,” he added.
Precisely, he said, the opposite of what Mariano Rajoy, María Dolores de Cospedal and the PP of Castilla-La Mancha wanted, “for all the radioactive waste in our country to be in Cuenca, to be in Villar de Cañas”, the socialist parliamentarian.
Godoy has also asked what the people of Cuenca have done to the PP of Castilla-La Mancha, to the PP of Paco Núñez, “so that what they do not want in Almansa, what they do not want where he was mayor, they want for our province.”
The final rejection of the project is, therefore, “very good news for Cuenca, for Castilla-La Mancha and very good news for all the people who have been in the fight during these two years to try to make this nuclear cemetery, which This second mortgage that they wanted to put up is not in our region,” he assured.
“UNACCEPTABLE” SPEECH ON VIOLET POINTS
On the other hand, the president of the socialist group has criticized the latest statements by the Vox spokesperson in the regional Cortes, Iván Sánchez, who pointed out in an interview with Europa Press that thanks to his action, in places like Talavera de la Reina what were previously Violet points are now used, for example, to be able to care for an elderly person with Alzheimer’s who has become disoriented.
Godoy has regretted that the PP of Castilla-La Mancha is “departing from the consensus” on this matter and leaving equality policies and the women of Castilla-La Mancha “alone in the hands of Vox” and has described it as “unacceptable” that is buying the arguments of a party that should “fight battle, instead of making pacts in our region.”
A party, he added, which the president of the regional PP, Paco Núñez, refers to as “centered” but which judging by its behavior in recent months “is not,” said Godoy, who has asked “what “Vox, its leaders and councilors have to do more so that the PP of Castilla-La Macha and Paco Núñez consider their pacts.”
STATUTE REFORM
Finally, and to questions from journalists, the socialist parliamentarian has downplayed the proposal of the regional coordinator of Podemos, José Luis García Gascón, in another interview with Europa Press to increase the number of deputies in the Cortes of Castilla from 33 to 100. -La Mancha and recalled that the fundamental objective of the reform of the Statute of Autonomy is to consolidate public services and rights in the autonomous community.
“Politics is much more serious than this and we are working to achieve a new Statute to consolidate public services and citizens’ rights, and that it be with maximum consensus and the result of the negotiation of political parties and civil society, which is what really important,” he concluded.
