New contingent of 12 gendarmes join Ñuble prisons – La Discusión

The regional director of the Gendarmerie, Colonel Juan Navarrete Gamboa, presented to the regional authorities the new contingent of officials who were assigned to perform security and reintegration functions in the different penal units of the Ñuble region.

In the solemn ceremony that took place in front of the Chillán Penitentiary Compliance Center, the Presidential Delegate of Ñuble, Anwar Farrán Veloso, together with the Seremi of Justice and Human Rights, Elizabeth Riquelme Donoso, welcomed the twelve new ones to the Region Gendarmerie officials who graduated from the Institutional School on December 14.

In total there are 6 women and 5 men from the non-commissioned officer plant plus a Second Lieutenant who from today became part of the Ñuble Gendarmerie staff, who come to mainly reinforce the new Bulnes Women’s Penitentiary Center, which will soon receive the transfer of the female inmates who are currently in the CCP of Chillán.

The Presidential Delegate of Ñuble, Anwar Farrán Veloso, pointed out that “As a Government and Presidential Delegation, we are happy with the arrival of the new Gendarmerie officials, who will contribute to the security of the Ñuble prisons, highlighting that ten of them are born and raised in the region, we know that they will be a contribution to security and reaffirms the tremendous role that the Institution plays for the security of the country.”

Meanwhile, the Seremi of Justice and Human Rights of Ñuble, Elizabeth Riquelme Donoso, highlighted that “As the President’s Government. Gabriel Boric, we have constantly worked to enhance and strengthen the daily work carried out by the Gendarmerie. We have ended the year with the inauguration of the Women’s Penitentiary Compliance Center, working not only on custody, but also strongly on social reintegration. The assignment of new officials complements the emergencies for our Government and in the same way works and contributes to public safety.”

While Colonel Juan Navarrete Gamboa stated that “after completing a demanding training process at the Institutional School, the new officials come to reinforce and contribute with all the security actions that are carried out in the different penal units of the region, which allows us to have control of the prison population and the execution of the different reintegration programs to be a contribution to public security, not only of the region, but also of the country.”

The new Gendarmerie 2024 contingent completed a demanding training process at the Institutional School, where 370 Gendarmes and 48 Second Lieutenants took their Oath of Service in an emotional ceremony held at the Penitentiary Training School.
