The reform of the validation of acquired experience (VAE) launched last year aims to simplify, modernize and secure this system which allows recognition of skills acquired through personal and professional experiences.
The future VAE public service will ensure the proper implementation of this reform and the putting the VAE website online. In addition, the Decree No. 2023-1275 published on 12/27/2023 specifies the Government’s ambitions relating to the simplification and security of routes.
Upon her appointment, the Minister Delegate in charge of Vocational Education and Training, Carole Grandjeanhad set the objective of reduce VAE delays for beneficiaries. In fact, the complexity of the course had become a constraint and led to the abandonment of many courses.
It is in this context that this decree provides for a simplification of procedures, as well as a reduction in the time between submitting the file and appearing before the evaluation jury. It aims to significantly reduce the duration of courses by going from more than a year currently to a duration of six to eight months..
With the REVA experiment, a forerunner of the reform and the future public service, the VAE deadline went from 7 to 4.5 months. This success in shortening the deadline was a guarantee of motivation for the beneficiaries and of success in completing the process..
Alongside this simplification, the VAE reform also aims to secure routesby allowing the candidate to benefit from a personalized support by a course “architect-guide”, upon registration on the portal vae.gouv.fr and throughout his approach.
In addition, the leave the employee can benefit from, currently 24 hours, is increased to 48 hours. The notice period is reduced. This leave will therefore allow the beneficiary to have additional time to prepare for appearance before the jury.
Carole Grandjean, Minister Delegate for Vocational Education and Training, declares: “With this decree, we are continuing to simplify the Validation of Acquired Experience. Thus, the duration of the courses to recognize skills will be greatly reduced, from more than a year to less than six months, the administration will be simplified, the organization of juries improved and support for preparations made easier. An additional step forward which is fully in line with my ambition to build the Nation of Skills. »
