Zack Snyder inaugurated his own galactic universe with ‘Rebel Moon’, a film that was recently integrated into the Netflix catalog and although there are two more films on the way, the director already has plans for his next project.
Determined to make his own galactic saga, Zack Snyder produced Rebel Moon, one of his most ambitious projects made up of three films, which have clear references to George Lucas’s Star Wars and Akira Kurosawa’s The 7 Samurai. For now, the public has had the opportunity to see the first part on Netflix, however, the response has not been what was expected and critics have not stopped criticizing it, ensuring that it is the director’s worst work.
Although there are still two films left, the 57-year-old director already has a new project in mind, which has to do with a famous franchise. It is not the first time that Snyder has been involved in a production with intellectual property, we saw it with Watchmen until Justice League, in which he added his own stamp. However, this time he is interested in an iconic spy.
The franchise began in the 1960s with Sean Connery as the protagonist, followed by a long list of actors, the most recent being Daniel Craig, who closed his cycle in 2021 with No Time to Die. For more than 60 years, James Bond has been present on the big screen, being one of the most iconic characters in film and television, so the owners of the franchise are looking for how to restart the next saga and Snyder is convinced of having the answer.
“I mean, how much intellectual property is there?” the 300 director said in an interview with The Atlantic. “It would be cool to see 20-year-old James Bond,” Snyder said. “The humble roots he comes from. Any youth trauma that makes you able to be James Bond. There has to be something there,” he added. However, his proposal is not the direction 007 producers are looking for.

A year ago, rumors circulated that Tom Holland could be the new spy, however, producer Michael G. Wilson assured that the next Bond would be a “30-something” actor, the same age as Craig when he debuted in Casino Royale from 2006, making it clear that they are interested in making a mature version of the famous spy.
For now, neither the protagonist nor the director has been confirmed for the next James Bond film, but it would be a project that Zack Snyder would be willing to take on. While that happens, he will continue investing his time and money in Rebel Moon, which will release its second part on April 19, 2024 through Netflix.
