A 14-year-old student from the Arta area is fighting for his life, facing a very serious health problem on Christmas Eve.
The child had left his house in the morning to sing carols, but a little later he lost consciousness, necessitating his transfer to Hatzikosta Hospital.
There he was immediately intubated by the doctors before being transferred to the University Hospital of Ioannina, where he underwent an operation to install a decompression valve to stop the bleeding.
At noon, with the assistance of EKAB and the police, the ambulance arrived at the Ioannina airport where an EKAB aircraft was waiting to pick up the 14-year-old child and he was transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Athens, where he underwent neurosurgery to repair the problem.
After the 20-hour procedure, the boy is now in the Intensive Care Unit, with doctors optimistic about his health.
