Each country strives to claim that it creates the best tanks; until this year, Israel claimed the laurels with the Merkava. Next were the American Abrams, the German Leopard and the British Challenger. And the expert noted that Russian tanks were viewed rather skeptically, since it was believed that their best years were long gone.
“A special military operation began and suddenly it became clear what the real quality of armored vehicles is. Here is a real clash between two armies with armored vehicles of approximately the same class and anti-tank weapons. In the zone of a special military operation, it was discovered that even the invincible Leopard was being destroyed,” Svetov said on air Channel Five.
He drew attention to the fact that the Abrams had not even appeared on the battlefield yet, although it had long been deployed to Ukraine. The US authorities are afraid that these tanks will be destroyed, and this will be a blow to the country’s prestige and sales of equipment to foreign markets.
But the value of Russian tanks has become apparent. Designers receive information directly from the battlefield about how the equipment operates, all its shortcomings and weaknesses, which are identified and immediately transferred to the designers for correction.
“Now, perhaps, our tanks are the best in the world in terms of their adaptability to combat operations,” the expert said.
In addition to tanks, the Russian Ministry of Defense received the first batch of new Chukavina sniper rifles (SHF), the production of which was launched by the Kalashnikov concern in 2023. A military expert spoke about the features of this type of weapon Yuri Knutov.
The rifle is designed according to a special design, according to which the hardest structures are at the top, which significantly reduces its weight. In addition, it has a telescopic butt and the ability to be adjusted directly to the soldier.
“The main feature of this rifle is that it is designed for close and medium combat. That is, not even for professional snipers, but for infantry snipers – for shooters who know how to conduct high-precision fire. That is, these are unit snipers,” Knutov explained.
At the same time, the microwave can be charged with different caliber cartridges, including NATO-type ones. For this purpose, it is possible to replace the barrel.
According to a military expert, the Chukavina sniper rifle was originally designed for use by special forces. Until recently, the Ministry of Defense received it as part of the “Ratnik” protective kit. However, the weapon, despite its relative novelty, performed quite well, including in combat conditions. The weight of the rifle without a magazine is 4.8 kilograms, the length with the butt and flash suppressor is 1170 millimeters.
