Al-Ahly and Future Face Off in Super Final: Who Will Come Out on Top?

Al-Ahly hopes to win the fourteenth title in the competition and the first in its new form with the participation of four clubs.

Al-Ahly qualified for the final match after defeating Ceramica Cleopatra 1-0, while Future defeated Pyramids 14-13 on penalties, after regular time ended in a goalless draw.

Al-Ahly’s task will not be easy in winning the third title in a row in light of the general state of stress and injuries that its ranks are suffering from after the team played four matches in 10 days, including three in the Club World Cup in Jeddah, when it won third place, a medal, and a bronze.

Al-Ahly captain, goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, was injured in the 36th minute of his match against Ceramica Cleopatra, leaving his place to substitute Mustafa Schubert. The same was true for defender Yasser Ibrahim, who in turn was forced to leave his place to Rami Rabia in the 75th minute.

Al-Ahly doctor Ahmed Jaballah revealed that x-ray examinations confirmed that El-Shenawy suffered a slight strain in the posterior muscle, and Ibrahim suffered from a connective muscle, indicating that there are doubts about their participation in the final match.

Al-Ahly’s Swiss coach, Marcel Kohler, stressed the difficulty of facing Future, and said in statements published on the Al-Ahly club’s website: “The task is not easy for Future,” refusing to say that it had become easier after Future succeeded in eliminating Pyramids, which was the most likely candidate to reach the final match.

Kohler added, “The level between us is close, and Future will strive to win the title. The road has become more difficult, not the other way around.”

On the other hand, the Modern Future players and their technical staff are looking to achieve the first title in the club’s history, and to have success in the Super Final.

Future suffers from the absence of a large number of its players due to injury, namely Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed, Mohamed Farouk, Nasser Maher and Mohamed Abdel Salam.

His Portuguese coach, Ricardo Formosinho, said in statements published on the club’s website: “I am seeking to prepare the players for the final match in a special way after overcoming the obstacle of the difficult match against Pyramids.”

Ricardo added, “The challenge this time is facing Al-Ahly, which has a great history and its broad fans, and the preparation will be up to the level of the competitor.”

Pyramids will meet Ceramica Cleopatra in the third-place match at the same stadium, in a match that may be the last for the former’s Portuguese coach, Jaime Pacheco, according to Egyptian media.

Reports stated that the Pyramids management is preparing to dismiss Pacheco after the decline in the team’s results locally and continentally, explaining that it is conducting negotiations with a number of foreign coaches, most notably the former Egyptian national team coach, the Portuguese Carlos Queiroz, who was recently dismissed from coaching the Qatar national team, and the former coach of Al-Ahly, South Africa, Pitso Mosimane, who in turn was dismissed from coaching. UAE Al Wahda Team.

Pacheco said after the loss to Future, “I am not worried about my future despite the loss. I will not lose my position because of the negative results in two matches while I am at the top of the Egyptian League, and we still have a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.”
