Toyota Breaks Record for Global Production and Sales, Poised to Beat VW for 4th Year

Japan’s Toyota increased its global production to a record high in November, reports Reuters.

In total, the car giant produced 926,573 cars during the previous month, including the Lexus brand. This represents an increase of 11.2 per cent from November last year, when trouble in the supply chains and a shortage of semiconductors affected production.

If the car brands Daihatsu and Hino are also included, the Toyota group’s total production in November was 1,067,446 cars, which is also a new record. Total production to date in 2023 is stated to be 10.6 million cars, an increase of 8.6 per cent.

Beats VW again

As for Toyota’s car sales, this reached the highest level ever for a November month.

Including Lexus, sales were 905,066 cars, an increase of 13.6 per cent. If Daihatsu and Hino are also included, sales were 986,262 cars, also a new November record.

In total, the Toyota group has sold more than 10.2 million cars before the figures for December are available – a growth of approximately 7 per cent from last year.

Toyota is thus poised to beat Germany’s Volkswagen and retain the title as the world’s best-selling car manufacturer for the fourth year in a row, according to Bloomberg.
