Ferreira (Madrid, 1958) was the director of films such as ‘I know who you are’ or ‘The Impatient Alchemist’.
Graduated in Image Sciences and Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid, she began her professional life in film journalism.
She developed an extensive career in television as a director of fiction series and programs (such as the TVmovie ‘Paradise’), cultural (such as ‘Treasure Island’ or ‘A Day in the Life of Our Ancestors’) and documentaries (‘Everything the world is music’, ‘On the other side of silence’, ‘Nearby paradises’, ‘A country in the backpack’ or ‘Equinox’).
In 2000 she directed her first fiction feature film, ‘I Know Who You Are’, premiered at the Berlin Festival, and for which she was nominated for the Goya Award for Best New Director.
Then came ‘The Impatient Alchemist’ (2002, Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos award for best adaptation); ‘So that you don’t forget me’ (2005, selected in Berlin and nominated for three Goya awards); ‘The Wild Children’ (2012, winner of the Biznaga de Oro and best script at the Spanish festival in Malaga), and ‘Thi Mai, heading to Vietnam’ (2017), his first comedy.
She was also the author of the short films ‘The First Day’, ‘The Dawn of Misrak’ and ‘The Best Kept Secret’, as well as a professor of Direction at the Community of Madrid Film School (ECAM) and member of the board of directors of the Spanish Film Academy.
