A fatal mistake, which now risks ending up in court. Caterina Giovinazzo, the 88-year-old woman who fell ill after discovering she had to pay a water bill of over 15 thousand euros, did not make it: the 88-year-old died on Christmas Eve at the Borea hospital in Sanremo, where she was hospitalized in very serious conditions. Now, reports Il Secolo XIX, the elderly woman’s family does not rule out contacting a lawyer to shed light on the matter.

The rise in petrol prices starts again: another surge in costs

The facts date back to the beginning of December, when the woman discovered that she had to pay 15,339 euros to the Iren group, on which she relied for the water supply. Not only that, her bank had already authorized the payment of half of the requested sum, with over 7 thousand euros withdrawn from her account. The 88-year-old therefore felt ill and was rushed to hospital. Shortly afterwards, the family members turned to the Iren group for clarification: the company admitted, apologising, that it was an incorrect meter reading. «The invoice was calculated on the basis of an incorrect photo reading – the company explained -. It had been acquired by Ireti through the company responsible for measuring measurements and referred to a third-party meter. Caterina Giovinazzo’s actual consumption amounted to only 55 euros”, we read in Il Secolo XIX. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at the parish church of San Marco Evangelista in Camporosso.
