SURABAYA, KOMPAS.com – Police officers explained the chronology of the deaths of three band members who died after drinking alcohol at a hotel bar in Surabaya, on Friday (22/12/2023).
Kasatreskrim Polrestabes Surabaya, AKBP Hendro Sukmono, said the incident started when the band, with nine personnel and crew, played in one of the hotel bars.
They play music from 20.00 WIB to 24.00 WIB.

“This band has nine personnel, including sound engineering and also assistants, all of whom also drink (alcohol),” said Hendro, in the mortuary at RSUD dr. Soetomo Surabaya, Tuesday (26/12/2023).
On Friday (22/12/2023) evening, after the performance, the saxophone player with the initials RG, became very drunk after drinking alcohol at that place. He was put in a wheelchair and taken home by one of his friends.

“RG was taken home by his colleague to (the victim’s) home address, but the condition (the house) was empty, then he was taken to (the witness’s) house,” he explained.
However, RG turned out to be unconscious until the next day or Saturday (23/12/2023).
Then, his friend informed the victim’s wife regarding her husband’s condition.
“In the evening, RG was taken by his colleague to RSI Wonokromo at 01.00 WIB, early Sunday morning. At 03.00 WIB, the wife (victim) received news that her husband RG had died,” he said.

Furthermore, said Hendro, other band members who were also victims of death, WAR, were in good condition. In fact, the drummer was able to return to his own home.
“The next day, Saturday, he still had time to perform at a wedding event. However, after the performance, in the afternoon, the person concerned was vomiting and feeling sick,” he said.
Finally, WAR was taken by his family to Adi Husada Hospital to receive treatment, Sunday (24/12/2023). However, the victim was declared dead at around 10.00 WIB.
Hendro revealed that the third victim who died acted as a sound engineer with the initials IP. He died after being treated at Dr. Soetomo, Tuesday (26/12/2023) at 10.00 WIB.
He said that there was still one more personnel who was still being treated at the Gotong Royong Hospital. He is MT who acts as a vocalist in the band.
“Regarding this incident, last Tuesday night, the family, especially WAR’s wife, made a police report, which we received at the Surabaya Police,” he said.
