Russian President Vladimir Putin has only one goal in the negotiations with Ukraine – the capitulation of Kiev. This was stated by political scientist Oleg Lisny to FREEDOM TV.
“The only condition that would be interesting [за Путин] in the context of negotiations with Ukraine, is capitulation. In fact, in each of the options now proposed, even freezing the conflict for a while is also capitulation. Everyone perfectly understands that this is just a pause that will allow Russia to change its mind and account for its mistakes,” he said.
Lisny stressed that the so-called pause could take Russia at least a year or five years before resuming a new, active phase of hostilities (including against the capital, Kiev).
“Another question, rather rhetorical, is whether Russia keeps its promises and how often it breaks them. “Putin absolutely freely goes beyond his given word and breaks it,” the expert pointed out.
In the same context, the question of the help that the partners provide to Kyiv arises, the political scientist emphasized. “I suspect there are politicians in the West who will say, ‘Why should we help if there is a ceasefire?’ Let’s help later!” So these are all subtle steps, but everyone can see their main idea, it’s clear and understandable. This should be seen as a provocation, and accordingly, not only we, but also our partners should act,” concluded Oleg Lisny.
