Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” Breaks Spotify’s All-Time Record

A very special gift that American singer Mariah Carey received on the occasion of Christmas, represented by her famous Christmas song, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” achieving a new listening record on the Spotify platform.

According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, the singer (54 years old), who is spending her vacation in the snowy state of Spain, received the news that her song was at the top of the Spotify streams last weekend, in addition to achieving the record for listening during 2023.

The song, which was released for the first time during the Christmas period in 1994, achieved about 24 million listens this year, breaking the record it achieved during the year 2022, when it recorded about 21 million listens at that time.

Since its release in 1994, the song has been included in the lists of distinguished fan songs, and has achieved about one billion and 700 thousand streams, entering the list of the best and most listened to Christmas songs over the course of about 30 years.

The 2023 version of the song “All I Want for Christmas is You” also ranked first among Christmas songs on the “Billboard 100” list, after occupying the throne for 59 consecutive weeks throughout the year.

However, the modified version of the song by American singer Brenda Lee (79 years old), released 6 decades ago, “Rejoice Around the Christmas Tree,” was able to dethrone Carey’s song for a short period, especially since it was released with a new video that brings together scenes from the past and the present.

Maria’s reaction was very nice, as she sent a bouquet of flowers and a message of appreciation to Brenda, which said: “Dear Ms. Brenda, congratulations on your historic first place finish. I wish you a happy birthday, my love.”

But Brenda’s song was unable to remain in first place for more than 3 weeks, until Carrie’s song returned to first place, and is still continuing currently, followed by Brenda’s song in second place, then third place for the song “Ring the Bell”, which was first released in 1957.
