Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba is convinced that the EU will in any case decide to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine.
He said this during the telethon, European Pravda reports.
Kuleba noted that the decision on an extraordinary summit on this issue was made not because of Hungary’s veto, “but because the remaining 26 European countries are giving Hungary time to finally agree on accession.”
“They (the EU – Ed.) don’t want to have a situation where “minus one” decisions are constantly being made,” Kuleba said.
He added that Hungary was given a month to negotiate, but if there is no result, the money will still be allocated.
Now the question is whether all EU countries, including Hungary, or 26 countries without it, will approve the allocation of funds, Kuleba said.
Let us recall that the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, after the completion of negotiations between EU leaders on December 14-15, said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban did not allow budget decisions to be made EU, which would include a medium-term assistance program for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros.
In this regard, the leaders agreed on an extraordinary summit dedicated to this issue, which will take place on February 1.
