In many ways, 2023 will have looked like the year of all storms in the economy. The ecosystem was shaken, oak trees wavered, some fell. But entrepreneurship holds strong, like the reed in La Fontaine’s fable: “I bend, and do not break”. This is the summary of the latest figures for business creation: after the record of 2022, it once again reaches a million registrations over the year. The first half of the year certainly saw a slowdown, but the machine took off again in the last quarter. This even though the business climate, an indicator of management confidence, was deteriorating and growth was slowing on the macroeconomic level. Paradox? Probably not. This countercyclical phenomenon is quite classic: when uncertainties accumulate, when dissatisfaction rises, but therefore also when spaces open up for new offers and original solutions, many say to themselves that there is no better future than leading your own project. In this regard, the fact that industry is the area where creations are progressing the most this year is quite a symbol.
