Baldur’s Gate 3 received many awards this year. To everyone’s surprise, it won the biggest awards at the Golden Joystick and The Game Awards, becoming Game of the Year despite much competition in 2023.
While games like Alan Wake 2 and Zeda: Tears of the Kingdom continue to win their share of awards, Larian Studios’ RPG is sweeping Game of the Year awards left and right, leading the race for the most GOTY awards.
As you can see in the screenshot above, sitewhich tracks games and their awards, has counted 64 Game of the Year awards for Baldur’s Gate 3.
This game won almost 54% of all gaming awards this year. Following Baldur’s Gate 3, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom took second place on the list, collecting 29 awards. Third on the list is Remedy’s critically acclaimed Alan Wake 2.
2024 promises to be another exciting year for players, and the industry may be ready to move on. However, after the successful reception of Baldur’s Gate 3, the game left a significant mark and will be remembered for a long time.
Despite the impressive numbers, this is not the end of Larian Studios’ dominance. Baldur’s Gate 3 is still nominated for various awards, including Game of the Year on Steam and BAFTA.
Last year, Elden Ring took home 73% of the Game of the Year awards. Due to increased competition in 2023, no game has been able to outperform the competition that much.
