Los Angeles (ANTARA) – Seasonal influenza activity is increasing in the United States (US) and cases continue to increase in most regions of the country, according to the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
There have been at least 5.3 million infections, 54,000 hospitalizations and 3,200 flu deaths in the US so far this season, US CDC data shows.
The number of patients hospitalized with flu each week continues to increase, with more than 9,800 patients hospitalized with flu in the week ending December 16.
A total of 14 flu-related pediatric deaths have been reported in the country this season, according to the US CDC.
The US CDC recommends that everyone aged six months and older get an annual flu vaccination.
