Lüneburg – Once again 2:3 – this result seems to become standard between Bundesliga teams SVG Lüneburg and the Berlin Recycling Volleys. The pre-Christmas top game of second against first ended after 130 minutes with a 2:3 (25:22, 25:21, 17:25, 21:25, 15:17) defeat for Lüneburg.
As was the case two and a half weeks earlier in the cup and also in the cup competition last season, SVG had the favorites on the verge of defeat, only to end up empty-handed again after five hard-fought sets.
The one point they got for the table this time was only a small consolation in front of 3,200 spectators in the sold-out LKH Arena, they had to take second place LüneHünen initially left to its northern rival Giesen. Above all, however, the fact that despite a 2-0 lead in the set, they were once again unable to outwit the long-time champions, caused long faces.
SVG also had the top scorer of the match in its ranks, diagonal attacker Xander Ketrzynski had 25 points and was also voted MVP. The most successful points collector in Berlin was Timothee Carle (16).
