Sjaak Swart hits out at De Toekomst: ‘Hey, are you still at Ajax?’

Maurits Hendriks is not doing well at Ajax, as Henk Spaan confirms, following Mike Verweij. Spaan writes in his column for Het Parool about a remarkable meeting that Ajax icon Sjaak Swart recently had with Hendriks, Chief Sports Officer at the club.
“‘Hey, do you still work here?’ Sjaak Swart recently said to Hendriks at the Toekomst. Then you don’t fit in very well with the group.” Ajax suffered the most painful defeat in club history on Thursday, in the second round of the TOTO KNVB Cup against Hercules (3-2).
“The bus back to Amsterdam was gently called the ‘losers bus’ by Hendriks on Thursday evening,” says Spaan, referring to the ‘losers flight’ that Hendriks organized as chef de mission for the Dutch athletes without a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil . Hendriks said a year ago that he regretted that ‘losers flight’.
“Maurits cannot stand his loss,” Spaan continues. “Yet his dark side constantly forces him to make decisions that make winning extremely difficult. It is a form of self-destruction that you see more often. Someone is afraid to cycle into the canal, becomes insecure and cycles into the canal. That is Maurits ten feet out.”
According to Verweij from De Telegraaf, Hendriks played a decisive role in the disastrous arrival of director of football affairs Sven Mislintat. Hendriks emphatically urged Ajax to sign Mislintat from VfB Stuttgart, after being impressed by several lectures from the data German. At the end of September, Mislintat was suspended again in Amsterdam, after Ajax was completely outplayed on its own field by Feyenoord (0-4).
