[Reporter Lin Xiaoyun/Report from Taipei]The Taiwan Youth Democratic Association held a press conference today. Chairman Zhang Yumeng said that in response to the 2024 presidential election, “this time, we will not change our fate…” 2024 Youth Democracy Returning Home Train“The fund-raising plan hopes to respond to the structural absence of young people from voting by reducing the cost of voting for young people returning home. The fund-raising plan was launched on December 8. With the support of all parties, the fund-raising target was successfully reached, and the youth returned to democracy. The rural train is scheduled to leave, and young people only need to pay 113 yuan for the fare. We call on young students from schools across the country to return to their hometowns to cast their precious votes.

Zhang Yumeng explained that there are currently nearly 1,200 people raising funds, and the amount of funds raised reaches 660,000 yuan. The Youth Democracy Return Home Train will send out 31 trains, and the ferry tickets from Kaohsiung to Penghu and the air tickets to Kinmen have been sold. There are nearly 700 seats, and the tickets have been sold out. There are still a few seats on the ferry. This time, the train will depart from 10 colleges and universities and various county and city railway stations. There are 27 stations where you can get on and off the train, and more than 40 colleges and universities. The student union of the school assisted in the process and hoped to send young people back to their hometowns to vote.

The 2024 presidential and legislative elections will be held on January 13 next year. Zhang Yumeng said that the YMCA will continue its plans in 2018 and 2020 and launch the “Youth Democratic Homecoming Train” through “online fundraising”. Young people aged 20 to 35 only need to pay 113 yuan to take a special bus and return to their hometown to vote, so that the economy is no longer a consideration for young people returning home. Fund-raising is still in progress and will end on December 29. We hope that the society The public’s continued support allows the plan to respond to the needs of more young people to return home to vote, allowing young people to cast an important vote for their future. If the funds raised exceed 700,000 yuan, 3 additional routes will be opened, and if the funds raised exceed 800,000 yuan, 10 additional routes will be opened.

Today’s press conference also included Taiwan Students Federation Supervisor You Zhijie, (Eastern District Student Representative) Vice President of Soochow University Student Union Chengyun Wang Chengyun, (Northern District Student Representative) National Chengchi University Student Union President Xu Zhiyuan, (Southern District Student Representative) Chinese Culture Wang Pinyin, Minister of Rights and Interests of the University Student Union, and Cai Jinghong, representative of the National Chung Cheng University Student Union (Southern District Student Representative).

With the youth democratic return train, college students can have more May return home to vote.
