Broadcaster Seo Min-jae expressed his feelings after taking drugs, saying, “I feel so sorry that my child committed a crime and I feel like I am making the mother responsible as well.”
Seo Min-jae said this in an interview with JTBC’s ‘Newsroom’ aired on the 24th, saying, “My mother was a middle school teacher, but she resigned because she said she had no respect for her students.”
Seo Min-jae became famous after appearing on a reality dating program, and in August last year, he suddenly posted on social media that he had taken Philopon with his then-lover, singer Nam Tae-hyun. He was later put on trial on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, and in the second trial held on the 7th, the prosecution sentenced Seo Min-jae to 1 year and 6 months in prison.
Seo Min-jae said, “I had the wrong idea that I was using drugs to relieve my depressed mood, but the side effects made me feel worse,” and “I think I ended up blacking out after overdosing on psychiatric drugs and posted that (on social media).”
Seo Min-jae gained attention by winning the title of ‘female car mechanic’, but lost her job after taking drugs.
Seo Min-jae also mentioned social prejudice against women who took drugs. “Aren’t there still some parts of society where female drug users are viewed more negatively? “It was a little difficult to overcome this because it was constantly talked about negatively in terms of sexuality,” he said. “Right now, I don’t see any female drug users who have come forward.”
