Insider Nick Baker he hinted on the XboxEra podcast that Sony might be working on an enhanced version of the original God of War trilogy. Supposedly these should be remasters. While he couldn’t even give an approximate release date and isn’t sure of the extent of the edits, he believes that 2013’s God of War: Ascension would no longer be part of the collection. According to him, if it was only a slightly improved version from PS3, he would not seem to be very interested. But there is hope that the modifications will go deeper.
At this point, the whole report is a long way from proof, but in the calmer holiday waters, Baker’s reputation has caused an understandable stir among fans. Let’s assume that the project is a year or two away. The release could then, at least in theory, coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first God of War, which debuted in 2005. Two followed in 2007 and three three years later. It was also remastered for PS4 in 2015. If you prefer the older parts to the new series, you can try to keep your fingers crossed.
