One of the exhibition’s paintings
Fadi Art Space Art Gallery, in the Turkish city of Afyonkarahisar, is hosting the solo exhibition of the Syrian calligraphy artist Khaled Al-Sa’i. The exhibition is entitled (Mysterious Letters), in which Al-Sa’i draws inspiration from the art of the Turkish calligrapher Ahmed Al-Qara Hisari through 23 paintings that employ acrylic, ink and collage techniques. The exhibition, which opens on December 28 and continues until January 27, is an opportunity for a contemporary calligraphy artist to meet a historical calligrapher, and how modern art can take inspiration from traditional works and employ them in a new form.
Exhibition coordinator Besta Kursu said: “Ahmed Al-Qara Hisari’s works are part of our nation’s heritage, express its identity, and represent an important and illuminating phase in the history of Turkish art.”
