Two of our sailors will appear in court this afternoon in connection with the seizure of cocaine worth €21 million in the port of Limerick on Tuesday, December 19, ekspresso.bg reported, referring to irishtimes.com.
The men, aged 32 and 35, have been charged in connection with the discovery of the cargo ship Verila, owned by Bulgarian Navy Shipping, and are expected to appear at a special sitting of Limerick District Court at 3.30pm.
The four other Bulgarians arrested as part of the police investigation have been released without charge. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
The Bulgarian sailors were arrested by police on Friday following the arrest of the Verila, on which 500kg of cocaine were found.
Earlier today, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zhivko Kotsev, announced that three of the detainees had criminal convictions.
