Two Gers firefighters sent to Bolivia to fight forest fires
Recently, the head of the Miléna fire and rescue center, Damien Sorbet, thanked all the firefighters for their investment and their seriousness for all these interventions in the four corners of the globe. Without forgetting to salute their precious help during the violent storms which affected the department in the sectors of Plaisance, Riscle, Condom and Saint-Clar.
At the same time, Marielle Duclos received the work medal, grand gold level, for 40 years of service.
Note, also, that a new section of Young Firefighters (JSP) started in September, bringing the strength of the station to 14, including 3 from the Miélan sector. It was Nicolas Lupeau from Miélan and Sergeant Mickael Segala from L’Isle-de-Noé who took over the reins of the section with the support of all the center leaders to lead this group to the certificate. This section is a breeding ground to strengthen all emergency centers lacking staff.
“You represent one of the most appreciated professions”
In his speech, Jean-Loup Arenou, mayor of Miélan, noted that “our fellow citizens were aware of how lucky they are to have you near their home”.
And continued: “It is not without reason that you represent one of the most appreciated professions; and if all children dream of one day becoming a firefighter, some transform their wish into a vocation.”
“Young firefighters already know what they are going to do with their free time,” concludes the councilor.
