Jakarta –
One of the goals of vehicle electrification is efficiency. Likewise for Suzuki which presents the Grand Vitara Hybrid.
The detikOto team is curious about the economy of Suzuki’s flagship 5-seater medium SUV which is challenging the Honda HR-V CS. Then we immediately carried out a fuel consumption test.
Like the Ototest program run by detikOto, we carry out fuel consumption testing in two scenarios, namely intra-city routes and toll routes.
When tested, the Suzuki Grand Vitara, which has the same basic engine as the Ertiga or XL7, managed to record a figure of 16.1 km per liter on the city route. We got these results when driving this car at an average speed of 25 km per hour.
Meanwhile, when the Suzuki Grand Vitara was driven on the toll route at an average speed of 90 km per hour, the multi-information screen showed a figure of 22.4 km per liter. Economical, right?
From the multi information display data, it is indeed economical. However, we were still skeptical and carried out further tests, namely full to full.
We took the Suzuki Grand Vitara from South Jakarta to Bandung, which incidentally is an uphill route. Before leaving, we filled the car’s fuel tank completely.
After this car had covered a distance of 163.1 km with a journey duration of almost 2 hours 30 minutes, the detikOto tester immediately went to the gas station to fully refill his fuel tank.
Now! It turns out that the gasoline that must be filled to fill the Suzuki Grand Vitara’s fuel tank is 9.75 liters. This means that when tested full to full on uphill routes and simulations outside the city, the average gasoline consumption of the Grand Vitara Hybrid was only able to reach 16.7 km per liter.
Please note that we also carry out this test dynamically. This means that the detikOto tester did not drive eco-driving and the car was filled with 3 people with typical family holiday accommodation.
In your opinion, from the results of the tests we conducted, is it economical or not? detectives?
