Books – Ahmed Gomaa:
The Egyptian Medicines Authority warned against using antibiotics as a fever reducer, stressing that this is a “misconception.”
The authority said in an awareness leaflet, “Antibiotics are not used as antipyretics, and this belief is one of the most incorrect forms of use of antibiotics as antipyretics. This causes a negative impact on health in general, and leads to the formation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.”
She explained that the most common misuses of antibiotics are:
-Stop taking the antibiotic after symptoms improve, and before the period specified by the doctor.
-Using a lower or higher dose than necessary.
-Using antibiotics for a longer period than prescribed by the doctor.
-Using antibiotics without consulting the caregiver.
– Using an antibiotic that was prescribed for another person, or for another condition that had previously had the same symptoms.
– Store the antibiotic and use it again.
-Using antibiotics to treat a viral infection.
The Egyptian Medicines Authority advised avoiding the incorrect use of antibiotics. Because it leads to antibiotic-resistant bacteria; This makes treating bacteria more difficult.
