BRATISLAVA – March’s 43rd edition of the Dudinská 50 Walk in 2023 was the best walking event in the world.
Dudince collected 10,537 points in the ranking of walking races included in the global calendar of the World Athletics (WA), exactly the same as the May team championships in Poděbrady. The pedestrian rally in La Coruna, Spain finished in third place with 10,479 points.
The Záhorák twenty in Borský Mikuláš was ranked 34th with 8809 points (8734 + 75). 107 walking events on all continents were evaluated. The atletika.sk portal informed about it.
New challenges await the organizers
“We are very happy that the Dudinská 50 in 2023 is the world’s highest quality walking event. It is a satisfaction for everyone involved in the preparation of the race,” reminded race director Július Korčok and revealed what disciplines the organizers are preparing in 2024 – the race will take place on March 16.
“The Dudin fifty will once again have the gold status of the World Race Walking Tour series, the program will include competitions at 20 and 35 km, as well as a mixed relay on the marathon track, which is a new Olympic discipline. The forty-fourth year will again be marked by new challenges for us. “
The evaluation of the walking meetings consists of three parts: points are awarded for the 8 most valuable performances, the quality of the participants and as a bonus points (120) for the world record, which Dudinci achieved in 2023 thanks to the “saint” Kimberly Garcío León from Peru at 35 km (2 :37:44).
PTS in Banská Bystrica also finished high
The 58th year of the PTS, organized for the first time under the baton of the SAZ in Banská Bystrica, also ended in a highly rated one-day rally. With a record profit of 83,303 points since the resumption of the event in 2016, it ranks 55th out of the thousand and one rallies included in the WA global calendar.
The previous maximum was 82,667 points from 2021. Just behind the “pétéeska” are the events in Huelva, Spain, Marseille, France, the Penn Relays in Philadelphia and the Odložil Memorial in Prague. The highest quality meeting was the 2023 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, USA in mid-September with 99,156 points.
The point gain of the one-day event is created by the sum of points from two criteria – the first part consists of points for the quality of the starting field, the second for the performances of the best five competitors in the 12 best disciplines plus possible bonuses for world records. In the evaluation of one-day indoor meetings, Bratislava’s Elán took the 177th place out of 520 evaluated races.
He received 37,371 points, 40 for the quality of the participants and 36,9331 for the quality of the performances. The championship belongs to the meeting in French Liévin with 47,520 points before the indoor European Championships in Istanbul (47,432). The point gain of the indoor meeting is created by the sum of points for the quality of the starting field, for the performances of the best three competitors in the 10 best disciplines, plus possible bonuses for world records.
The 29th edition of Banskobystrica Latka was high in the ranking of specialized events, it finished 14th with 9922 points (560/participation + 9362/quality of performance), but it was the best in the high jump. In the competition of 571 events, the Košice JBL Jump Fest was a solid 61st place with 9201 points (245 + 8956). The championship in this segment of athletic events belonged to the throwing festival (USATF Throws Festival – Tucson Elite Classic) in Tucson, Arizona, USA, with 10,609 points.
High ranking for the International Peace Marathon

The marathon ranking is dominated by Chicago with 10,799 points, ahead of London (10,710) and Berlin (10,553). The Košice MMM was placed only 18 points behind the marathon in Vienna, followed by events in Rome, South Korean Seoul, Milan and Toronto.
