Mandatory Technical Review (RTO) and Insurance Requirements Clarified by Municipality of Río Grande

The Traffic Department of the Municipality of Río Grande informs residents that the validity of the RTO and insurance continue to be requirements for the circulation of motor vehicles on public roads. In the event of controls, the relevant documentation will continue to be requested. Taking into account that the decree recently published by the national government raised doubts regarding the current requirements for vehicular traffic, the Municipality of Río Grande, through the Transit Directorate, clarifies that the aforementioned decree refers to the modification of the Automotive Property Registry Law, and not the National Traffic Law.

Along these lines, it is important to keep in mind that the validity of the Mandatory Technical Review (RTO) and insurance continue to be mandatory requirements for the circulation of motor vehicles on public roads.

Both the existence of vehicle insurance and the appropriate technical review of our means of transportation have the fundamental purpose of protecting third parties from harm, as well as ensuring the safety of those who are being transported inside the vehicle.

Let’s continue taking care of each other, driving with caution and conscience, for a more orderly and safer city. A city for life.
