Dangerous Food Alert: Billa Czech Republic Chain Sold Minced Chicken Steak Contaminated with Salmonella Infantils

Some chain stores are considered higher quality than others. In short, Czechs have historically experienced that the more expensive and grander-looking stores are simply better than those where you shop as cheaply as possible and are classified as so-called discount stores. However, if we look at the results of inspections by the State Agricultural and Food Inspection, we will find out that extremely low-quality and dangerous food is very often found even in the best chains.

A lot of meat, but also something extra

Billa is clearly counted among them. Some people even make it a point that they don’t shop anywhere else, but only at this chain, which has really nice stores, neatly arranged merchandise, friendly staff, and a host of other benefits. But when it comes down to it, it fails like everyone else in food inspection. Not so long ago, he had to recall the inflating butter, which he then warned his customers about.

And now it’s here again, and even worse. Billa was selling a rather minced chicken steak without the skin, which promised a full 99% meat, which is not bad at all for such a product. It can be assumed that people bought it in bulk. However, it turns out that the food is completely riddled with something you really don’t want. “The presence of the pathogenic bacterium salmonella infantis, which can cause a disease called salmonellosis, was detected in the food.” stated SZPI in its message.

The product was sold in a plastic tub with foil and a sticker, and this time the manufacturer was the Klatovy Poultry Factory. Considering the find, the big question is where he actually got the meat. In recent months, it has become clear that products with this finding are imported to us exclusively from Ukraine.

It was too late again

Unfortunately, everything was figured out again with a certain time gap, because the minced meat has a use-by date of October 22, 2023. This means that it has at least been redeemed and most of it probably consumed. However, it is possible that someone has it in the freezer at home. However, know that freezing will not help and the food must be thrown away immediately.

This is really misery what they are selling us. One tries to buy the best, but it is apparently completely futile. Someone should do something about it.” said customer Anežka, who we caught up with in the Billy store in Prague.
