Beware of Internet Fraud: New Pension Beneficiaries in La Paz Alerted by Banco del Bienestar

La Paz, Baja California Sur.- The Welfare Secretariat announced that the date for new pension beneficiaries, this December 23, 2023, the benefit is for those people who were born between November 1 and June 30.

The requirements to request the pension are: valid official identification; birth certificate, CURP and proof of address. They must also provide a telephone number where they will receive notification of when they can receive the card to receive deposits.

On the other hand, the institution alerted the population and beneficiaries about fraud through false profiles that impersonate the Banco del Bienestar that offer supposed bank loans.

After it was detected that they offer credits from 5, 10 and up to 15 thousand pesos through false profiles, Banco del Bienestar published a message through its different social networks such as X and Facebook alerting users about this type of theft in which those interested would pay from 125 to 375 pesos per month for loans granted

In this regard, the executive of the central branch of the Banco del Bienestar Rubén Ojeda stated that the institution does not grant loans or credits of any kind, which is why he confirmed the existence of a new type of fraud due to alleged loans and credits.

He invited account holders to consult the official pages of the Banco del Bienestar where recommendations are issued to users to protect their card, where they are also asked to avoid exposing their card data; Do not write down the PIN next to the card, do not use the same PIN for different cards and try to change the PIN at least twice a year.

INTERNET FRAUD

The National Guard reported at the National level that among the crimes committed online, cyber fraud is the one with the highest number of reported cases. From November 2021 to September 2023, 97,184 cases of cyber fraud have been registered in the case of Baja California Sur, the most recent report from the Executive Secretariat of Security reported that from January to October 2023, 1,407 frauds have been committed.

The States with the least frauds are Nayarit with 146, Chiapas with 104, Quintana Roo with 77, Yucatán with 51 and Tlaxcala with 14; Condusef indicates that only 29% of formal complaints for unrecognized electronic transfers end with a ruling in favor of the client and in the case of fraudulent online purchases, favorable resolutions barely reach 47%.
