Batzenhofen Music Association Annual Concert: Magic from 1001 Nights

The Batzenhofen Music Association offered a colorful range of music under the motto “Magic from 1001 Nights” at this year’s annual concert.

For this occasion, the Batzenhofen multi-purpose hall, lovingly decorated in an oriental Christmas style, had a new seating arrangement for the orchestra and listeners to improve the acoustics. At the opening, the student band under the musical direction of Gerhard Schuster presented the pieces “Sky boat song”, “Sun calypso” and the Christmas carol “What should that mean”. The student and youth band are joint orchestras of the Batzenhofen Music Association and the Hirblingen Swabian Traditional Costume Band. The youth band continued under the direction of Leonardo Dianori with the pieces “Merry Christmas everywhere”, “Star wars saga” and “Can you feel the love tonight”. The young musicians and their conductors received long-lasting applause for their contributions invited us to take a break after the encore.

In the second part, the music band presented itself under the direction of Manfred Braun. Starting with a timpani solo, the piece “Lawrence of Arabia” captivated the audience from the start. The piece “Themes from Scheherazade” followed, in which the soloist Amelie Schmid on the violin sensitively interpreted the stories from 1001 Nights. In order to put the listeners in the mood of the Orient and the desert, “Selections from the caravans” followed with the two soloists David Dantele on the flugelhorn and Dominik Ziegler on the alto saxophone. The classic title “Persian March” continued the concert.

Duke Ellington also couldn’t be missed in Batzenhofen

The concert concluded with the lively title “Caravan” by Duke Ellington. The Batzenhofen music band and their conductor received long-lasting applause for the successful concert. The two encores were conducted for the first time this year by the music association’s young conductors, Andreas Kugelmann with “Wonderful dream” and Dominik Ziegler with “Guten Abend, gut Nacht”.
