Hassan al-Atrash was killed on Friday in a targeted airstrike in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, the Israeli Air Force said on Saturday on X.
Al-Atrash organized the production and distribution of weapons in the Gaza Strip as well as the smuggling of military equipment from abroad, the statement said. He also supplied Palestinian militants in the Israeli-occupied West Bank with weapons. The information could not initially be independently verified. Palestinian media reported on Friday that three people were killed in an airstrike in Rafah.
The war was triggered by the worst attack in Israel’s history, carried out by terrorists from Hamas and other extremist groups on October 7 near the border with the Gaza Strip. As a result, more than 1,200 people were killed on the Israeli side, including at least 850 civilians.
